Blue Skies Adventures

Our Regular Trips: The trips are from 2 to 14 days

Guan Mt. Category 3 (two- day) 4 (one – day)

Guan Shan (3,668m) is the highest peak accessible from the South Cross-Island Highway (No. 20). It’s a 9km round trip hike from the trail head. This is also the starting point for the 5 – 6 day South First Section. From the trail head at Jinjing Bridge (2,380m) it is possible to climb in one day with day packs, but two days is recommended. As a weekend trip you can leave Kaohsiung at 10pm on Friday night for a 4-hour drive to the trail head and get a few hours sleep in before starting the hike on Saturday morning. As a two-day trip you get to bag a second peak, Kuhanuoxin Mt (3,115) on the first day. Camp or lodge on the second night before attempting the 3km hike to the peak. Some fairly steep parts to be negotiated with fixed ropes in place. Spectacular views and a sense of achievement await those who make it to the top and you’ll be home for dinner on Sunday night.
